The DATA ID card is free. An initial card will be issued without a waiting period if you meet the eligibility criteria. Individuals may qualify for discount fares for reason of illness, injury, or congenital malfunction. Qualified individuals include those who are non-ambulatory wheelchair users and those with semi-ambulatory capabilities who are unable to utilize mass transportation facilities and services without special facilities or special planning or design. Eligibility criteria is based on a person's ability to use regular mass transportation services and presumes a level of personal mobility and independence to the degree that use of mass transportation would be a reasonable expectation.
Individuals ages 13-17 who are enrolled in school are eligible for a discount fare Monday through Friday until 8 p.m. Eligibility is based on student enrollment. Enrollment status will be verified by DATA.
Youth less than 60 inches in height are presumed to be 12 years of age or younger and permitted to ride free. Youth 12 years of age and younger who are 60 inches or more in height require a DATA ID card to receive the free fare. Proof of age required.
Senior citizens 65 and older ride DATA for free. Seniors must show a government issued photo ID or DATA ID to receive the free fare. Proof of age required.

Seniors may renew a DATA ID by calling DATA to request a new ID. If you have a discount card and have a permanent disability, shortly before your ID card expires, call to make an appointment to get a new card. If you have a temporary disability and your ID card has expired, you must apply for a new card by completing a new application and submitting it to DATA. The new application must be certified by a health care professional as defined on the application. Youth and Student IDs are not eligible for renewal.
In the event that you lose your ID card, you may obtain a replacement ID for $5. Visit the DATA Operations Facility, 1907 Fay St., Monday, through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to obtain a replacement ID. A government issued ID is required to obtain the replacement ID card.
